"We leave something of ourselves behind when we leave a place...
"We leave something of ourselves behind when we leave a place, we stay there, even though we go away. And there are things in us that we can find again only by going back there."
--Pascal Mercier, Night Train to Lisbon
I head home again. Papa is 90, Mama is 91; the whole family from far and wide comes together to celebrate and connect. We are who we are, nature and nurtured, because of our Papa and Mama.
It had been a year since Issa and I went home. Issa just finished medical school and wanted to see her Lolo and Lola before she started residency. Issa, the FilAm that she is, wanted to be and meet her other family ~ visit the place her parents grew up; eat, go to places, learn more of the Philippines' culture and history. We were reading "A History of the Philippines" by Luis Francia during that trip. Maia was doing an internship in Los Angeles then and hence could not join us. She will soon be a working young professional. Our gratitude.
I had been away for 30 years, intermittently came home on key moments ~ sister Tessa's wedding to Raul, our parents' 50th wedding anniversary, Mama’s 80th, our parents' grave illness, Issa's graduation.
I head home again. Yes.
"We leave something of ourselves behind when we leave a place, we stay there, even though we go away. And there are things in us that we can find again only by going back there."
Hence, No Move with Guia classes at UMP-PT from June 17-27.
